Hi,
I got the box back in sept and worked perfectly till recently. i'm in dublin, and on Ntl, every now and again certain channels flicker and freeze for a sec or 2. Its like the signal isnt getting descrambled correctly or somthing.
When i plug the cable directly into TV its perfect.

Any ideas?

Yep its your splitter or cable check all connections and relace your splitter.

Hi,

I moved my Box downstairs and it initially resolved the issue, indicating that as you said the connection was the issue. Now downstairs, it is giving trouble hanging on an update initially and now a lot of channels are gone.
So i'm assuming that my signal quality is the issue.
Question i have is what is the optimium way to join cables, with all splitters and different 'cable ends' around i'm actually siding on a drastic method of soldering all cables together.
Would you advise against this or offer any other suggestion?

Do not solder coaxial cables together, just use a twist on RF connectors and a good quality cable like CT100 or RG6, also use a decent splitter, e.g Konig.

Just not a good way off connecting coax. Although for phono connections yes you can solder. But for TV you need to keep the inner core and outer braid away from each other. Hence why you use RF connectors.

Well, if thats the only concearn i may still go ahead- i'm pretty handy at soldering and would have no problem keeping core and braid untouched. It will save me buying all the connectors and splitter.
Would there not be a resistance concearn? I see in some splitters they specify a certain resistance- is this just to filter out noise? More the prob is i cant find a source for the cable ends, good ones- like N*L use which screw on and are crimped solid. I have good cable, just bad intersections- both internal to house and onto external line.
