why don't you just get a monitor instead of using the dell?

PS3 to monitor the best way i found was to get a HDMI-HDMI then use and HDMI to DVI, That kills to graphics. although i solved my problem with simply going to target and buying a 19inch hdtv 720p on floor model (i got lucky it was only there for 2 days) MAgnavox, retail was about 330(without tax), i picked up for 215(with tax) and most HDTVs equip themselves with standard monitor connections along with high def connections and composite. Also going the hdtv route it is much easier to have speakers on the screen then trying to rig up a speaker system that only some monitors can do anyways, DVI doesnt transfer sound.

In simple the ps3 is not meant to connect to a monitor simply because a monitor can not handle the graphics. The ps3 uses a special output for composite and the high def 5-way cable. It also has a HDMI output. Depending on the model it has several USB ports, These have the drivers for flash drives, portable hardrives, keyboard, or a mouse.
