I have a liteon and an HP lightscribe dvd burners, but when I try to burn a dvd, (video or data) it wont burn and when I went to "My Computer" I noticed that both of my drives are listed as CD Drives.

On the Icons they say DVD Drive, and DVD-RW Drive repectfully, but when I click on them it says CD drive on the left.

Any way to fix this? I already tried reinstalling them but still no luck.

My DVD burner is listed as a CD drive too...that's just Windows.
Did you uninstall the drives or the controller?
If you are using Nero do you get a log?

Yes I uninstalled them countless times and still no luck.

I got errors from nero 6, 7, and 8 dvd decryptor, and ect.

The funny thing though is that about a month or 2 ago they were listed as dvd drives and worked perfectly.

I know that dvd drives can fail and that could be the cause, but I cant see it that 2 failed at the same time especially with the liteon never had a problem with them.

Sometimes removing all the programs that can access the drive for burning (ImgBurn, AnyDVD, Nero, etc) and removing the filter entries in the registry, is known to work.
