i'm ripping Black Hawk Down Region 1 disk using the DVD to DivX5 tutorial. in DVD2AVI the frame type is PROGRESSIVE and the video type is FILM but the frame rate is 29.97. when i view the VFAPI avi in virtualdub some of the frames have jagged lines like this (before any divx processing):

if i process using "Inverse Telecine > Reconstruct From Fields > Adaptive" it fixes the lines but i get random jerkiness in the motion. if i process using "Deinterlace > Blend Fields" that also seems to fix the lines but the picture seems more blurry (but no jerkiness).
can anyone tell me what i should be doing to fix these lines please?
many thanks
