I would like to upgrade my video card. The card that I have in my machine at this time is a NVIDIA GEFORCE 6800 GT, the AGP ver.. I have no PCI-E slots, so what would be the next step up in AGP cards without going to a overclock card. My system is running on a 550 psu. Thanks.
Your best bet is to replace your motherboard in order to purchase a PCI express video card. Obviously, this would most likely require you to purchase a new CPU and RAM as well. What does this mean? You're better off keeping the video card you have until you can replace your entire system. One of my older computers only has AGP for video and I'm currently running ATI Radeon 9800 Pro in it. I don't see any point in spending any more money on an old system. However, if you're going to get a new video card no matter what we tell you, then I'm sure we can dig up something slightly better than what you've got now. For the high end, look for the XFX GeForce 7950 GT, such as the one sold here.
The best card for AGP will be the forthcoming 3850. Although you will be better of just saving money and building yourself a totally new system. What kind of PSU are you using? You have to make sure it can handle it.
