I have been using easy cd creator platinum as my burning software. Movies I have downloaded from Kazaa are in windows media video format. With Easy CD Creator I can only make a video cd with mpegs. Is there a way to convert windows media to mpeg? Should I even mess with this program for burning VCD's?

I have downloaded nero because that seems to be the standard vcd recording software. I have not learned how to use it much yet though.

What is the best way to create vcd's from downloaded movies so that I can watch them in my dvd player?

InstantCD/DVD 6.5 (www.vob.de) does quite well with creating videocd's from almost any input source: divx, mpeg, windows media, asf,...
