Monitor Hookup without Serial Port

    I'm looking at getting the Asus Maximus Formula Mobo. I noticed that there is no serial port to attach a monitor. What is the alternate and cheapest route to hookup monitor? Thanks.

    You will need a video card in order to hook up a monitor. if you want to play games than you should get a 3870 or an 8800gt. if you just need to connect a monitor then you can get the cheap 8400gs.

    they don't use serial ports for video & never did.
