Hello all -
Can't seem to find the clear answer for this question.....

Can i use standard RCA cables for my SACD 5.1 analog connection?

i've seen some sites selling "SACD cables" but is that really just 6 standard rca's lumped into one cord?

thanks mucho!

Yea, you should be able to use those "SACD CABLES". Looks like its just a set of 5.1 analog cables.

hmmm.....i guess i wasn't clear here

my question is.....can i use a bunch of standard RCA cables?
-like 3 sets of red/white or 2 sets of red/white/yellow

or is there something different about "SACD cables" other than them simply being attached together?

Oh, heh, sorry. Ummm, I can't answer that one honestly. My guess would be no, you can't.

Update: Ok, you've got me interested. This is what I've found

According to the guys over at audioholics, you can. Looks like you can just buy 3 sets of L/R RCA cable. I guess this is just another gimic that the industry uses to get people to purchase those higher priced cables that come bundled together?

it almost seems they are suggesting it's the same scenario with component video cables too? that one could just use standard composite?

i'm just going to get some good quality RCA (3 pairs of stereo)

it seems that the only real difference from typical rca and the higher end component cables is quality

now.....finding a good RCA cable!
sadly the last time i had to purchase any cables i didn't know anything and got monster!

any specific recommendations?
blue jeans seems quite expensive
perhaps monoprice

Ewwww, Monster, it should be a crime to sell cables at the prices they do.

Yea, anything from Monoprice should do the job, I've bought several things from them and have had no problems.

PREMIUM 2 RCA Plug/2 RCA Plug M/M 22AWG Cable - 3ft

Those should get the job done eh?

yeah i'll take a good look at these tonight

i was surprised though at how many companies sell the "SACD 5.1 cable" for $75-100!! that's pretty much the same price as monster!

even blue jeans!

oofah! =P

Yea, I saw a set of 3ft 2-channel RCA cables for like 40 dollars over there, just insane!
