Guys!!! I have Ubuntu 7.10 installed and want to use XP as a guest. And I don't know which VM to use. I heard that virtual box is good except that it doesn't allow you to upgrage to future Ubuntu versions, WHICH I WANT TO DO when 8.04 comes out. Also, the only way to get USB support from it is through closed source edition (CSE). I hear VMware is nice but it costs money, I think... not sure. Can you guys help me decide based on your experiences and what I want to do which VM is the best for my purposes? Thanks !!!
What gives you the impression vmware costs?.. it went free a while ago for linux platforms. http://www.vmware.com/download/ws/ I think a lot of places are still charging windows nubs for it tho .. :lol:

Thanks guys for your replies. I want to know if VMware is better than Virtual box. Does VMware have USB support? Which is better or the best VM out there? Again, I got ubuntu 7.10 and want to use XP as guest. I had first asked this question before but no one seems to know the answer despite various suggestions on similar topics... weird.
The best way is to try either vm or vb & see which you like better & works better,my rule of thumb is nothing's ever straight forward
The easiest to install (and the one I use to run network sims) is vmware server. I run sometimes 4 VMs at once no problem. sudo aptitude-get vmware-server or just vmware its already in the repos.
