media question

    Hi, im new at linux. i installed linux on vmware workstation so i could learn to use it before i totally pass on to linux. i have centos installed and i was wondering could anyone suggest me a good media player and codec pack for it. leave the the rest to me :D. thx

    I don't know much about centos or how it gets its software, but a good mediaplayer is Mplayer or VLC. for codecs, get ffmpeg, lame, but you may find it will be better to install the distro to a separate partition and run it properly rather than in vm

    centOS is a red hat clone. pretty same. i installed it on vm beacuse i dont need to bother with drivers and everything i cant explain it all now. thx for the suggestions i tried to install vlc already and i get some errors ill try mplayer
