I have a built in sound card and I am wondering how much the sound
quality will be improved if I buy a PCI sound card.

I'm not looking for extremely high quality but at the moment I can't play music at a decent volume, games are fine but musica and video are too quiet. I have a medium range hi-fi with okay speakers but I know it can perform better than the current sound.

Also I get system (whirring, hissing etc) noises throught the sound. Will that disappear if I get a PCI sound card?

I just bought a dynex 5.1 surround sound pci sound card for 29.99 at best buy. It works really great and is user-friendly, improved sound quality 100%
