Hi there i have a nice collection on MKV files and i after a dvd player that will play MKV files can any 1 help me i have been looking everywhere with no look thanks
I really don't think they exist! If they did I would definitely buy one. The Matroska container is so diverse that I think it would be quite hard to develop a stand alone player for it. You would need an array of codecs on board to play all the different compatible streams. Although, it is quite easy to transfer the streams from the mkv container into different container formats for various stand alone platforms. :-D
can't remember how i stumbled upon this thread but there are players that will play .mkv but only through streaming the POPCORN HOUR A-100 WILL STREAM almost anything www.popcornhour.com

How do you stream to multiple rooms? what kind of hardware are u using? I am thinking of buy this exact media streamer.

I bought a network workgroup switch that can network eight computers together (I bought mine at office depot - very cheap): http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Sate...nksys/Common/VisitorWrapper&lid=5187994560B02 This is not the exact one I have, but it is close. The other thing I did was use AllegroNFS Server for windows: http://nfsforwindows.com/home SETUP: I have two network cards in my computer. I use one for the internet, and I just plug the other into the workgroup switch. Then plug in all the tvix box into the same workgroup switch. I manually setup the IP addresses/mac on the computer and use different IP's for each of the tvix boxes. And it works like a charm. If you do this and use AllegroNFS, let me know, I have a guide to quickly set it up for the Tvix.
