I just got an order of Ridata DVD-R's...they are supposed to be 16x, but only come up as being able to burn at 4x in both Nero 8 and ImgBurn.

I updated the firmware on my GSA H22N LG burner thinking that may have been the issue but seems its not.

Used DiscInfo tool and the ID for the disc is RITEKF1, which, when I check is rated as 2nd Class media (pretty good) according to
http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm

For media to be rated this high, you would think that I would be able to get a better burn speed than the default 4x....

Anybody else run into this issue?

I've never had any luck with Ritek , try a different Brand like Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim and see if you have the same problem. It may be a drive/media compatibly issue

Yes, I usually only ever use Verbatim (from Staples)but they haven't come on sale lately, so I tried these Ridata ones in the interim. Thing is I haven't had any Verbatim's since I have upgraded to Nero 8...so was just wondering if there was some glitch with that program etc (gawd knows its a quirky program!!) Thats the trouble, tho, you never know what you are getting anymore...can't believe the name cuz that is used by the highest bidder.
