    Hi,
My friend has this old computer She asked me to help her fix it,
because she got it donated to her from the church and she really needs it to go to collage...
    Her problem is
they gave her this computer with,No disks,or anything,
so when she turned it on it said Administrator and it wanted a password well the church lady who gave the comp too her never gave her the admin password....
she only gave her a user name and a password wich is restricted
so we tried that and it logged her in...
the computer is very slow...and under that username it has Restricted accsses...
What i would like to do is maybe get into the admin account and cleen it our or something i really dont know what to do....

    Its a emachines Etower 400idx
It has a 8.4 GB Harddrive

and the church lady said it had been refurbished before...
so i really dont know whats in the tower...
i really dont know what to do..
any help is very need and im thankful for the help...

    well this is the update...
i found that the computer had like 5 user account and one accout was called Windows
so i tried that accout with no password and it let me in..
    it was a admin account
so i deleted evey other account and cleared the admin password

i got the system cleaned out....there was tons of junk on it..
and almost had no harddrive space left..
i also cleaned out the redgistry and used Ccleaner
it removed tons of stuff also

accept my only problem is it had a SLOW start up time...
not time loading when u first turn on the cmputer
after it loads windows 2000 it will set there and say
starting windows 2000...and then will say its loading verious other stuff well while its setting there loading all that in the little windows 2000 box it takes like a good 15 mins
and the computer is just setting there the harddrive isnt even making a loading noise....

is there anything i can do to get rid of that slow startup time or is windows 2000 always that slow....

also i changed the network card on the computer cuzz the church people said that the old one was dead/gone/nothing

well if i can access the internet still...

what else would be wrong..do u think its the little slot on the mother bord?

    just curious

thanks for al the help stan

it says umner system properties 261,684 KB RAM
if thier was a way to save all the drivers that are inside the tower alredy i would just reinstall windows 2000 like a factory restore with the windows 2000 disk i have,
but i dont know where i could find what drivers are in the tower,
    also save them...
becuase i think that this computer had saveral viruses before..
    and they were cleaned out..
but might of did damage to the software...
is there a way to find and save the drivers or something?

in the device manager, what does it show for modem, ide controller & network adapter? win2k should pickup the videocard & soundcard with no problem. if not then should be able to provide links to you for the drivers.
