DVD Drive is not working. of sorts.

I have a IDE DVD-ROM 16x drive and I have a problem with it. Whenever I attempt to play a DVD-Rom game in the DVD drive, the drive makes a loud noise and then turns off. When this first happened I went into the device manager, and the DVD was not there. I turned off my PC and turned it back on and the DVD Drive was there again. The Drive plays normal DVD's like films and it was CD's, but it only seems to be with DVD-Rom's.

Can someone help me please? I have no idea what to do

Could be you need to update the firmware. What make and model do you have?What game are you trying to play in it ? Did the game work before? on this machine or any other?

Could use a little more info in order to help.
