Someone please help me out. My friend just bought me FF7 for my computer but I'm having issues. I'm pretty sure I installed everything right, I put disk 1 in the cd drive, i get to the main menu that says 'continue game or start new game' and thats where i get stuck. I've tried pushing every button on the keyboard, and none of them do anything... The pointer just sits on continue game and won't move. I dont know what to do...=(

unfortunately, ffvii will only work on win95 with no problems. anything higher won't work. try running it in win95 mode.

if that doesn't work, there is a patch that is to work with xp found HERE. try installing it, and change the ffvii exe file to run in windows xp mode.

go into the ffvii folder, and right click the ffvii.exe(or whatever the exe game file is). click properties, and then the properties window will show up. there should be a "compatability" tab; click on it. check the "run this program in compatability mode for" box, and the grey out pulldown tab will be active. choose windows 95, and then apply on the bottom right.

try the game again, and see if it'll work. if not, install the xp patch, and switch the compatability from 95 to XP.

Ok, i tried that, and its still the same, none of the buttons do anything... but a thought occured to me. I started reading the user manual and saw that its say to use the number pad keys... well im on a laptop with no number pad... could that be the problem? and if so is there a way around it?
