My PC will restart insead of shutdown. I click shutdown, it says it's shutting down, but then it boots up again. Any idea why?

Microsoft said it could be Roxio, but I have never installed it.
Or it could be I have "Automatically restart" checked, but it's not. I've formatted my computer, no luck. Any idea why?

How many times in a row will it restart?

My issue was the ram that caused it, usually had to shutdown 3 times before it actualy shutdown.Changed ram and now it shutsdown the right way.

It will shutdown, boot stright back up. So once it's shut down, I hold the power button down. It will try and boot twice then turn off.

That happened to me recently. What was causing it was a sd media card usb reader. Somehow the usb 4 way plug where it was connected got corrupted and was causing problems. I removed the 4 way usb extension, and the media card reader and that fixed it.

My advice remove everything that is connected to the usb plugs to troubleshoot it. (printers/scanners/ipods/cameras etc).
