I have some movies that claim to be 720p I can watch them fine with my VLC player. The problem is to me they look no better than watching a dvd on my pc. Is there a way to make them look true hd on my pc. It says resolution 1366 x 768 on my tv screen. By the way I am using a hd tv for my monitor. When im using my xbox it says 1080i. Is there a player I need or what can I do to make it look true hd. I mean it does look good now but no better than a regular dvd or even a small divx file.

well.. im going to make a few asumptions..

first if the movies are comming from your pc.. then im asuming that you are downloading them and if its around 4gb... then its a compressed version of 720p..

720p im assuming is just the resolution.. it doesn't necessary define crisp quality since its the compresed version..

that is why dvd movies you download or i should say dvdrips (the 700mb ones) may have the same resolution as dvds but the original dvd itself may still look better on the tv because the dvdrip is compressed... its been converted from the original source and downsized.. if you want true dvd quality you have to download the 4gb dvd9 or w.e its called.. what im getting at is your 720p should be the full rip... usually 25gb or so or 50ish for the 1080p.. that is how you will get true 720p quality like if it were a bluray or hddvd

secondly... how are you connected to the tv? that could effect what you see.. vga is good but dvi to hdmi or dvi to dvi would be even better

im no expert in anyway but im pretty sure im correct for the most part
