    hello there,
I would like to know what software to use in order to compile a subtitle file .srt into a movie so that my PS3, PSP can read the movie with its subtitle.

Can the device read soft subs? With soft subs, you can turn them on
or off (on the dvd player for example)

Or does it need hard subs? When it's hard, the movie has to be
reencoded and the subs fed in, so that they become a part of the
actual video data - once that's done they're burned in and are
    no longer switchable.

If it needs to be hard subs, use virtualdub and vobsub/textsub

Or if soft works, use somethng like divxmux (which needs the microsoft dot net framework)
