Ok I am trying to get a handle on all these new players and resolutions and everything. So I know normal DVD is 480i or 480p, but can a Blu-Ray disc be either 720p or 1080p or are all discs 1080p capable? Also, what resolution is used for upconverted DVD's? I guess this is what im wondering. Say I have a video file that is in 1080p and I want to put it on a CD to watch in my upconverted DVD player. What would be the best resolution I could change that file to in order to fit on a 4.7GB DVD-R with maxium clarity.

Sorry I don't know how to edit the post but just to clear things up I actually have an HD-DVD player with upconvert capabilities.

1: All BD discs are full 1080p.
2: Keep the same resolution but reduce your bitrate, VBR (variable bitrate) is best, but file sizes can be... well variable.
CBR (constant bitrate) while not as good as VBR you can instantly see final file size.
