The burner I just bought (CyberDrv CD-ReWriter 52*24*52, Internal IDE) is installed on my old computer (after jamming the new computer one two many times) but it is only recognized as a CDROM. Programs such as Nero and PTS don't recognize it either. It is listed in the device manager as a CDROM.

    The computer runs

    WIN 95
    100mhz Pentium
    16MB RAM

Or instead, would anyone have an idea about why it jams the computer. It is recognized as a drive and appears in the My Computer window, but when it tries to read a CD the computer freezes.

    The computer:

    Win98
    300mhz AMD
    32MB RAM

Be sure that your jumper setting are correct as your cd-rom should be set to master and your cd burner to slave(if running both on same ide channel). If so be sure that the ide cable is tightly fastened to each drive and to the motherboard as well.
(secondary ide channel as default)After checking this now go to Device Manger and see if the problem is corrected.

    Shoey :)

It wouldn't hurt to upgun that system of yours either. Looks like from what you say is under the hood, you might be a bit light on RAM and CPU power too..

Have you updated your BIOS recently? Perhaps check your Motherboard's main support webpage for driver updates?
