I am interested in using Skype on my PSP slim and I just upgraded it to version 3.90M33. However I can't seem to find the icon for Skype. Can anyone tell me how do i get the icon for Skype?

Try to upgrade to 3.90 M33-2, if it doesn't work go to recovery mode and make sure it is in 3.90 kernel, restart your psp and go to network settings it should be there.

i have the same problem.... i have my fatpsp modified on 390m33 firmware but it doesnt appear on the network.. can somebody help me out here.... thanks... i really appreciate your help...

try dling a a new theme like xmb or something will be in there for sure :)

skype should already be in the network section of the xmb. can see it on my slim 3.90 m33-2.

also, skype is psp slim ONLY.

you cannot get skype because you have a fat psp. skype is psp slim exclusive.

Hi, if you do go to recovery mode and it is set to 3.90 kernel and it still doesn't show skype... it may be because you are using a Japan PSP? if so you have to go back into recovery mode (R+Power for 4 secs) then under configuration set fake region to AMERICA. if you use EUROPE you will discover that this will show the Go Messenger icon under network also. Hope this helps. This worked for me.

Good answer - I did everything to try and get my skype icon to appear (dunno why, I have no intention of using it <8-)).

Never thought it might be a region thang. I'll check it out when I get home.

Oh - and another thing. Is it possible to use the go-cam for skype instead of a headset? So the mic is used in the gocam and the speakers in the psp instead of a headset.

After saying I had no intention of using skype I'm gonna do a complete 180. Off to get a go Cam tonight for £30 or so - can't say fairer than that
- chat on the phone *(to other skype users) for free
-take basic pictures and video

AND
-have a wierd shiny silver thing to screw to the top of my slim

(Means I'll be able to play Talkman too).

Just to update anyone interested;

Got my go!cam last night and on first impressions I'm impressed.

It's so small (in a good way), even when it's in the plastic case it comes with. And it's really solid - I thought it was going to be crappy chrome plated plastic but its nearly all metal. Pictures in a dimly lit room have that mobile phone graininess but in sunshine not bad at all.

But here's the clincher - I can confirm it works with skype. I didn't even need headphones (but they are preferable cos it can sometimes be hard to hear clearly on the psp speakers). Instead of spending £20 on a slim headset (which is a bit of a one trick pony and not great for listening to music, and I already have headphones) I spent just over £30 and can use skype and also take pretty pictures and videos. AND it might be fun for use with go!messenger.

Yup, I'm pleased with it!
