Samsung's site recommends DVD-R's only up to 4x speed. These are almost impossible to find anymore (and the reason I am replacing my recorder). I emailed support and got this response "We do not recommend using discs higher than 4x. Doing so may negatively impact your ability to record." Does anyone who has this recorder know if 16x discs work fine with this recorder? I can't imagine that a relatively new model doesn't work with 16x discs. Thanks in advance for any assistance. Tim
I don’t have the Samsung unit --- But What the manufacture recommends and what is used in a specific unit can be two different things Such a recommendation can mean that those are the disks sent to them for their use and so they recommend them Standalone units have a recording speed limit of some 1x, and in copy about 4x In the liteon/ilo units I use, 16x disks work fine and burn at 1x in recording and 4x in copy that’s for drives rated at 4x, 8x or 16x If the Samsung won’t I would say, The drive in the unit is defective or a bummer.
