I'm in the market for a new T.V. I'm definately open to suggestions, but I want a 40 inch preferably. The main one I have decided on is the

    Samsung LNT4069F

I just wanted to know if you guys could let me know how this stacks up compared to other t.v.'s and if overall this would be a good purchase. I'm looking to stay in the ballpark of about $1500.

Here's the link to the specific one's I was looking at.

Yes , definately go samsung, they are great tv's with great picture reproduction - I went into the market for a new tv last year and compared lots of brands and picture quality. I think most are fairly similar, the important things to look out for are definately hdmi inputs and compatibility, although most hdmi these days are 1.3 standard , hence hdcp compatible. Would be handy to have 3 hdmi inputs, dvd player, playstation etc. I only got one and kind of regret that now. One could also save money if no set top box is inbuilt although most are these days and it is actually a lot smoother and better audio processing. All in all it depends on what brands one likes ; I for one have always bought samsung and have never really been let down , also customer support is great. Don't waste money on extended warranties however.

If your in the market for a new LCD. You will want to compare several things:

Response time - 8ms or better.
Contrast and Dynamic contrast ratio - Contrast of 3000:1 and up / Dynamic contrast of 5000:1 and up.
    Brightness - 500 cd/m2
Inputs - Everything is going HDMI these days. Find one with plenty of these inputs.
