Hi, I have windows Vista home and within the last week my laptop has been shutting down randomly at times. My dad told me it shut down on him while he was doing work, and when it shuts down and you reboot it =, everything you just downloaded or have done gets deleted, for example a new book mark for firefox will get erased. Im not sure why this is happening and it has just been recently doing this, is it a virus or a program or is it hardware related. By the way this laptop is only a few months old.
hmm. which processor do you use. maybe its overclocked. my friend bought computer and it kept restarting because of processor temperature. when he brought it to lookup he found out that his provider sold him a comp with overclocked processor :S. damn this state of mine
I say check your event logs, and see why the computer shut down so abruptly. If there was a peak in your processor performance because it was overclocked the computer would register it.... but if it was caused by hardware malfunction such as a power surge or u dropped it in water it wouldnt. Tell me what the event viewer says, and if you can get into the cmd prompt type in sfc /scanonce to check the windows file system and the vital core files windows needs to run
thats good idea. i have totally forgot abut that. no problems in a while suddenly my brain shuts down
i had this same problem, i just reinstalled vista and haven't had the problem since, no one could give me a solid answer of why it did it
