Hi, I have windows Vista home and within the last week my laptop has been shutting down randomly at times. My dad told me it shut down on him while he was doing work, and when it shuts down and you reboot it =, everything you just downloaded or have done gets deleted, for example a new book mark for firefox will get erased. Im not sure why this is happening and it has just been recently doing this, is it a virus or a program or is it hardware related. By the way this laptop is only a few months old.

I say check your event logs, and see why the computer shut down so abruptly.

If there was a peak in your processor performance because it was overclocked the computer would register it.... but if it was caused by hardware malfunction such as a power surge or u dropped it in water it wouldnt.

Tell me what the event viewer says, and if you can get into the cmd prompt

    type in

sfc /scanonce to check the windows file system and the vital core files windows needs to run
