I was wondering if someone out there could help me. I am new to burning dvd's and was wondering why my computer takes so long using shrink. Its over half done and its already been an hour. My computer, granted, is slow like 500 Mhz. but still is there anything I can do? Should I check No Compression on the menus and extras? What else can I do??? Thanks for any help.

Hey finkus, I think you answered your own question. DVD movies are BIG, 7.95 gigabytes for a DVD-9. 500mhz is slow and it's gonna take a while to process all those files. You may want to look at upgrading your RAM.

If you check "No Compression" for the menu and extras, Shrink will have to compress the main movie even more to make it fit on your disc. No gain in speed but a loss of quality for the main movie.

Are your IDE devices set to DMA?

I dont know what system you have but this is how I get there with WinXP: My computer> propertys> hardware> device manager> open IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers> Right click primary IDE channel> propertys> advanced settings> change from "PIO" to "DMA if able"
Thats what I've got written down in my notebook, let me know if it helps.
