how can i change icons/thumbnails on vista

hi I'm not sure if this is meant to go in here but i need help i remember with windows xp you could change the icons/thumbnails for shortcut's files etc i need help for doing this on vista i can change the shortcuts icons but i ave a torrent file the the download file just a torrent file and i was wondering how i can change the icon on it I've been looking about on the web but can't seem to find the answers if anyone has any information on the matter then please feel free to say
as there are many of file icons/thumbnails i would like to change

i mean like in win xp you could select an option where you could changes all the icons like for MP3 DVD exe torrent files and so on
just wondering if you can do that for vista and if so where
as i ave this file which i don't like the picture for

 

below the address bar is a view button which u can use to change your icon size

 

yeah i know that wot i want t change is the picture on the icon/thumbnail
i found out how to do it on shortcut's by right clicking on the file and then properties and theres an option for change icon but i cant seem to find out how to do it for avi files torrent files etc
