Edit- I think i found the problem, i inserted a TEAC brand DVD rom and it picked it up and burnt! YAY! cuz before i was using that really cheap "Tevion" brand i got from the Aldi shop. I was wonderin now, is there any program/way to force my dvd drive to spin the disk and burn the data even if it thinks theres no disk in the drive? and do you think that was the problem? cheap disks? 12 buks for 25 DVD roms. That a good price?
    thanks

Personally, I've always been happiest using Verbatim DVD media. I've had success with other brands as well, but I tend to stay away from generic brands. As for the cost, I usually buy my media online, thus what you paid seems really expensive. I'll usually buy a spindle of 100 for less than $30. Of course, you can find specials all the time.
