I have a Samsung DVD-P721M DVD player. I'm using a DVD-R for media. The player says it will use either -R or +RW.

I used DVD Decrypter to rip, DVD Shrink to get movie down to 1 disk, then IV DVD Copy to burn. I can playback the DVD on my computer, I can play it back on my wifes laptop, but when I put it in my Samsung, it won't load the disk.

So, I tried a DVD+RW, and it worked fine. Any thoughts?

Guess What! I decided to run to Wally World to see if a different DVD player would make any difference. I purchased a Sony DVP-NS325 player. I hooked it up and BAM..it played my dvd-r and the dvd+RW fine. I guess there was just an issue with the Samsung, even though the book said it would play the DVD-R.

WHat speed did you burn the original disc at? Does it help if you burn slower?

I just burned it at max speed. Since it worked fine on the Sony, I'm just assuming it was something on the Samsung.

    Thanks,

It might not be your player. It might be the software you are using to burn. I used to use Nero but recently I've found that the Record Now 4.5 engine has far better compatibilty with stand alone players. Make sure you download a guide there are a few options that must be checked to ensure compatibilty.
