ok i have a windows xp home cd and ive used it before so i know the disk works but when i tried to install windows on my friends computer it reached i believe 51% and then just shut off...sorta. the power light was on still but all the hardware just shut off. my friends at work say that the viruses i was trying to remove (i got rid of 133 of them, 3 remained) just didnt get erased during the format the xp cd did and thats why its shutting off im gonna try their advice tonight but if it doesnt work i would like to have osme other ideas ready to use. so plz respond soon im going there very shortly
I had the same problem, i fixed it, kinda... i pulled of the side of my PC and cleaned it, blew the dust outa the cables, removed my graphics card and used my onboard one just for the setup, and took out all the parts that didnt come with my computer and it worked
Yeah, try removing all. But that's only if you know what you're doing. Are you removing the existing partition?
sweet, i got it up and running. I cleaned it out A LOT, i believe it was overheating cuz on start up i noticed it said 65c. but now he has no sound, lol. any ideas on that? i know he has on board sound, and its a Biostar KM266-8233A. yea its old but its all he has.
lol im not sure i asked him to open cpuz that i downloaded on his computer and thats what he told me it was when i get to his house ill find out for sure which will prolly be wednesday.
