Can I use DVD shrink to burn a copy of a copy I d/l with a .flv extension

No.
Shrink does not burn.
If you want to burn a data file, use either ImgBurn or Nero.

thanks - but how do a burn a .flv file/ wHEN i use DVD shrink all I do is put in the dvd and use the open button it then anyalyses it - then I click on backup and it encodes it. After encoding it - I put in a dvd and don't have to click on Nero or even close DVD shrink and go to another program as it automatically writes to a dvd.

If that's what you want to do, you can try DVD Flick.
