Hi. I’m new here so greetings to all.
I’ve been using DVDShrink 3.2 to backup my DVD movies with good results for a long time now. However, I notice that when playing-back the backup DVDs on my PC (with PowerDVD) the audio is much lower than the original. Sometimes it’s so low that I need to use my headphones.

Any suggestions? Much obliged.

you might try a different process rip with dvdfab decrypter first then use fixvts(that should take care of the audio problem) then use dvd shrink to transcode and burn.

what brand of media are you using?

heres some good info too

ZosoIV:

Thanks millions for your suggestion.

"...you might try a different process rip with dvdfab decrypter first then use fixvts(that should take care of the audio problem) then use dvd shrink to transcode and burn..."

I haven't used DVDfab for a while now. I'll try and let you know about the outcome.

"...what brand of media are you using?..."
The burners are either a Samsung on my laptop(2 yeras old) or a Samsung on my desktop(3 years old). the DVDs(quite a few) are anything from Fuji to Sony to Maxell.

cheers

Sony is pretty good media, the others sublet their discs to low dollar manufacturer's, some of which are bottom of the line.

Always use good media. Either stick with the Sony's, or Taiyo Yuden, or Verbatim.

Happy burning.

Fujifilm code out as prodisc which aren't good and Maxell can code out as two or three different brands. Taiyo Yuden,Verbatim and Sony in ordrer are the best quality

I get my TY's in North America from

1) www.meritline.com
2) www.supermediastore.com

If it wasn't for bad luck, I'd have no luck!

Hi guys:
Thanks for the advice. I actually tried a pack of Verbatem DVD -RW a month ago and I've had a lot of trouble with all 5 of them. After formatting thru Nero, the movies I burned to these DVDs either could not be read(no dics in drive) or hung my PC. I tried reformat, looked OK... burned some more movies, Nero or DVDshrink said successful... But when tried to read them or play back, my system was hung again. Please allow me to remind that I have burnt a lot of movies on -RWs with good results(except for audio volume).

I'm not saying Verbatem is bad since it is recommended by a lot of experienced users, but I don't know why mine happened so. Bad first try experience. I returned them for Sony DVD -RWs and they have been working fine.

Anyway my questions was about audio volume and ZosoIV has given me some good suggestions. Any other suggestions are appreciated.

cheers
