I want to convert all my VCD's to DivX. I am currently using "VCD Gear" to convert the *.dat file to an *mpg file but the quality is very poor (fuzzy). Can anyone suggest a better method so I can maintain the quality?

    Thanks

Hmm...I don't know if VcDGear is doing any encoding or just re-writing some headers..., so probably is your video source or your player. You can try just renaming the .dat to mpeg(it works with some, and also depends on the program that you use to convert to Divx). Nero Vision for example, will accept the dat file and make an AVI.

IsoBuster can also extract the mpeg from .dat.
