PS2 discs aren't encrypted. You don't need to use DVD Decryptor.
Just use recording software such as Nero, EZCD, RecordNow, Alcohol, or whatever and use "dvd to dvd" copy. It's better not to copy "on the fly" but to HD first.

you can use the decrypter to pull the .iso off the disc onto your hard drive by going to mode and selecting iso->read. Then you can write it back to a blank disc using mode iso->write. However, if the original was a cd, not dvd, this may not work. It is easy to tell, just look at the game disk, it should say COMPACT DISC or DVD.

Thanks for the quick response.
I am not sure what else to try. In the forum tutorial, the steps to use DVD Decrypter for backing up a PS2 game are (thankfully) clearly outlined. I have followed the same steps with great success with other games that I have.
I have tried Nero 6.0 and there were also reading errors on this GTA DVD. With GTA, I was able to play the original that I have but unable to back it up successfully.
I wonder if anyone out there has other suggestions?

something is wrong with your original, simple as that.
V9 PS2, flip top, SMD, DVDLoader
Pioneer 107, ritek g05
DVD Shrink, DVD Decrypter, Nero

your mostly right. It is possible to put a dvd game onto cd, but it is complicated and a lot of work.

it's not worth putting a dvd on to a cd because you have to get rid of alot like videos music multiplayer etc etc etc and you can also look on the back of the disc if it's a purplish blue then its a compact disc wich MUST be written on a cd and if it's shinny white then it's a dvd rom wich can either be put on a cd by ripping it or put it on a dvd

True i dont think it is worth it either except the certain games that will be just as good on cd as dvd
There's no such thing as a lost cause
it just has to be found

well i guess some people don't have dvd burners and have to either download dvd rips of games that they own or if they have a dvd rom then they have to rip them themselfs wich is not worth the time i tried it but it didn't work and you can't play them with swap magic 2 only with swap magic 3.
this has nothing to do with the above i am not advertising i am just doing this to make 2 cents per click this will be on all my posts

one thing you CANT do is do i thing after another w/o closing the program. then reopen it and do another on. I have used this dvd dectrypter about 20 times and that is your problem.

Prior to using DVDdecrypter, I always make sure the disc is always clean of dirt, stains and scratches before extracting its information to the hard drive.

Needing a mod is one of the most obvious things. But w/e. I highly recommend DVD Decrypter, its just the best overall. I used Nero before and had a couple errors over a period of use, and never an error with DVD Decrypter. What version is your PS2? cuz v1-3 and sometimes 4 dont work with DVD+R, DVD+RW, and DVD-RW. Burn at 1x (atleast at first to practically eliminate the possibility of a bad burn, its a big factor). Just burn on DVD-R, its the most likely to work. good luck.

I tried this for the first time today. I tried backing up my "war of the monsters" using DVD Decrypter to rip an ISO image and then burning (again using dvd decrypter) the image to a dvd+r using my Lite-on burner. I use the neokey/sbox technique, so I swap my Gameshark 2 dvd with the new copy, but the screen freezes at the "loading" screen...
does anyone have any thoughts on what i did wrong? this was my first time doing this, but i've made succesful copies of various movies, so i know i'm doing it right, but this PS2 thing is not working. Any help anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated.
thanks in advance for your time...

Sorry, i've been awy on vacation..I have a Sony SCPH-30001 PS2 and Gameshark 2 version 1.9...My PS2 is SBOX modded (small box that plugs into the usb port of the PS2)
I'm having problems getting the game to load up, can anyone provide any step by step instructions on how to do this with what I have? I've loaded CD's with no problem using the swap technique, but something tells me its not the same technique for DVD's.
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
