i just got a new Lg 42" LCD tv and a Panasonic SC-pt750 surround sound system. the system will give 5.1 sound with movies but not with cable. i looked into it and found that i would need to attach a optical cable from my rogers digital cable box to the reciever, however there is no optical audio input on the back of the reciever.
i was wondering if anyone was encountering the same problem, and if there is anyway to get around it.
Not to my knowledge. If there is a digital coaxial output on the cable box and a digital coaxial input on the receiver then you could do it with a digital coaxial cable.

Yea, what's the model number? Is it one of those "all in one" units? That could be the case, but I still think most receivers these days have at least an optical input on them.

I checked it out, sorry didn't realize it was a all-in-one system.
I can't see anyway of doing it, it looks like the only one in that series of panny units is the SC-PT1050, which has optical input.
