Does anyone know any good mp4 video editing software. I am looking for just the capability to cut off frames from an existing mp4 file. Both free software or paid software suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
I downloaded Avidemux and when I edit the file and save it in mp4 format I don't get a picture. Everything is black with the appropriate sound. Any help would be great.
What settings did you use for Avidemux, what codec did you encode with? Try playing the video with VLC player,see if it is a codec problem.
I have tried it with MPEG-4 ASP, MPEG-4 AVC and MPEG-4 ASP and audio AAC. Strange thing is I just opened the newly edited file (the one without the picture using quicktime) and the video is there in Avidemux. So it seems to be a quicktime issue (I think). I will try VLC player and let you know. Thanks
Everything looked good using the LVC player. So it seems to be a disconnect between Avidemux and Quicktime.
That's what I was thinking, when you re-encoded with Avidemux, the codec wasn't supported by your player anymore. So, you got it all figured out?
Use Fairuse Wizard 2... If you have the file stored as an iso, that would be great... after the program reads the file, the next screen shows the video in a player. Trim it from there and re-rip to an avi file. That's what I would do. If you're looking to already trim an avi, then I know that I personally wouldn't know. I just checked CNET and VirtualDub got some really good reviews and SolveigMM Avi Trimmer got 3 stars... Just my .02
FairUse Wizard will only do a DVD, not a mp4 file. FairUse will crop the video, not edit as in remove frames...VirtualDub is similar to Avidemux, it just accepts less file types(plug-ins are available for some) inputs and outputs. EDIT: I also tried SolveigMM Avi Trimmer. It works great, and pretty fast. What I liked about it, even though it could not decode the video(H.264), so there was no preview available, it still trimmed the file with no problems.
Cyrusrom, I guess I figured out what was wrong, but it still doesn't play in quicktime and I am assuming it won't play on my ipod, though I haven't tried that yet.
Then try the one suggested by Gruven, SolveigMM Avi Trimmer. it does not re-encode the video. I just did a clip to try it out, and is very fast. Edit: @gruven98 Thanks for the tip on the trimmer. Also, I use FU W2 myself, excellent quality output(x.264)!
I have a couple of TV episodes I've ripped to Itunes in MPEG-4 format Instead of having separate episodes, I'd like just one file What's the best way to do this? I've tried using Avidemux,but it doesn't seem to put a file ext on the finished project HELP!!!
