I am totally new to this forum, so forgive me if this question has been asked before..

I have got a geforce 5600 fx with tv-out, and I would like to know if its possible to record tv on my computer with the tv-out... How, if possible. (cabels, software etc.)??

If not possible with the tv-out. How else can it be done... I ould prefer not to buy new hardware..if it is neccesary.. what is the cheapest piece of hardware to record tv on my comp???

I think, the 'TV-Out' is used to Send the video signal TO your TV not the other way round.

If you want to record TV onto your PC then you will need a video capture card, or some TV tuner cards that you can buy to watch TV on your PC sometimes have a capture funtion (check specifiaction) as for price video capture use to to be very expensive however technology has progressed alot since the bad old days and video capture card are trivial, but even now there are 'cheap' ones and more 'expensive' ones ie the range from £30(cheap) upto £200-500(more expensive)

Try AVermedia cards which can be purchased at Maplin in the UK they do cheap cards.

There are two types internal (PCI CARDS) and external boxes.

Some cards offer real time mpeg2 encoding.

    Thanks for the reply..

But I heard that you were sometimes able to "rewrite drivers" and then actually get the tv picture on the computer through tvout... does anybody know how to do that (geforce 5600 fx)... that would be so cool

No, i do not think this is at all possible, this is beacuse the circuit thats used to output TV-out is totally different from the circuits that allow video capture.

A video out is a VGA or XVGA to PAL/NTSC modulator circuit whereas a video capture is a A/D video siganl convertor too very different things.

One thing that is possible is on miniDV's which do not have a firewire in and only a Out option is to use what is called a widet which allows DV content to be firewired back to the Camera mayb this is what you confused it with?

I'll tell you another silly thing someone once told me, he said he had found a software that allowed noraml CD burners to Burn DVDs, by apparently "TWISTING" the laser beam thus making an effective narrower beam! of cause we all know that DVD has a red laser beam of 650 nano metre, and normal CD red laser is about 7x larger.

Anyway, he he hope this helps man!
