Hello. I have been trying to solve this problem all day. I just put a new Dvd-burner as my slave and so far a dvd-rom that I have been trying spits out everything that I put in it and it does not read on my computer. I also tried the plextor cdr writer which hangs up and freezes also. The dvd-writer however does not do that, only the Master. Do you guys think my cdr writer and dvd-rom is messes up? It was working a few days ago. Please help out. Thanks.
Well if I had your rig I would check the configuration inside the pc to be sure everything is connected firmly and jumpers set correctly as well. I would run the Plexy cd burner as salve and your hard drive as master on the primary ide channel. Then I would run the dvd-rom as master and the dvd burner as slave on the secondary ide channel.
