Hiya. I'm trying to help out a friend because their PC has like 1001 programs on here and of course on mine all I have is VLC. This PC has realtime player and quicktime and a few other players. I think they go to UTube and recieve clips and things via yahoo and email. Will VLC with the correct codec pack allow me to remove all these other apps without future problems?

    Thanks in advance.

VLC does not use external codecs from what I know, so you might not be able to play all file types.

You can get MPC and install ffdshow, it will play pretty much everything. I use both , VLC and MPC. I also have installed Real Alternative to go with MPC(not the buggy realPlayer) , as I play lots of RMVB videos. Quicktime and Real Player are two buggy ones that i would get rid of.

VLC will not use external codecs. Media Player Classic will. I don't have Quicktime or Real installed here and instead use MPC with QT & Real Alternative. FFDshow will get you most any other format with MPC.

Yeah I really don't know what to do. I'm trying to clean up this PC as much as possible. With my PC all I do is watch movies but on this one the people watch clips and legally obtained things.
