Ok, I just upgraded to 3.90 M33-3 and started a save file on FFVII: Crisis Core. I don't know WHY, but it has become corrupt SEVERAL times. I've googled the problem several times, but the only results I get are people who had a save on a previous firmware and then upgraded. I'm having saving issues with saves made in the firmware I'm currently using. I just created a save from an iso of Sonic Rivals (the first one) yesterday, and it saved fine, but when I went to re-load it it was corrupted. I loaded a save from Shin Budokai - Another Road shortly after that. It loaded fine, but gave me a cannot save error when I tried to save, then when I exited the game and looked at the save file on the mem-stick, it was corrupt. I'm getting REALLY sick of having to reformat my memory stick every day. Also, I DO have a FAKE 4gb mem-stick, but it has NEVER given me problems until I upgraded to this firmware. Someone, please, help!

it's not the firmware, it's your memory stick. it's starting to give out. i've been able to save crisis core saves on my slim 3.90 m33-3 and real sony 4gig memory stick, and it never corrupted.

ps2: v7 scph-39001 - independence exploit - hdloader 0.8b - maxtor 300gb hdd
(+[__]%) psp slim: 3.90 m33-3
nintendo ds: limited edition zelda gold

got a whole lot more to list . . .

Ok, so after a bit more testing only certain psp game saves corrupt. All ps1 saves are fine, and have no issues. Makes me think it's a firmware issue, not a mem stick issue. When FFVII: Crisis Core becomes corrupt it changes the name of the save folder to _NEW_00000000000992450964. The standard files are inside the folder: The two image files (neither of which is corrupt), PARAM.SFO (not corrupt), and CCFFVIIDDAT.BIN which IS corrupt. I'm going to use system recovery to downgrade back to 1.50 firmware, then re-upgrade to 3.90M33 and hope to god it works this time. Any other ideas?

Oh, I forgot to say that my 3.90 M33-3 also has the fatmsmod (using the 3.71 disk loading) and the 1.5 kernel. Could the fatmsmod be the problem?

Nopes >_>
As "cee43ja1" said, it's a memory stick problem >_<
FAKE memory sticks do not support "MagicGate" which makes the save files corrupt >_>
Many people have faced this problem and changing their "memory stick" to a genuine one has fixed it ^_^
Well, if you plan to buy a new memory stick, I recommend a "SanDisk 4GB Memory stick pro duo" :)
It's the BEST !!! :D

Ok, thank you. Although I plan to get an 8gb Sony Mem Stick Pro Duo. Already found out that the ones on Play-Asia.com are authentic Sony mem sticks. ^_^ Expensive, but for an 8gb I'll spend the money. Thanks for explaining the Magic Gate function. I kinda figured it had something to do with that but I wasn't sure.

Not sure if this is about memory sticks, pals...
I have 4GB from the game bundle (with a Sega Tennis or something). I guess they do not put fakes into official bundles, do they? 8)

From all the games I play only Warhammer 40K stopped working, without any particular reason. Deleting your save game and starting the game from the beginning fixed it, yet... you are loosing all the progress in the game.

Now THAT is a firmware compatibility issue. Mine on the other hand corrupts even if you start a new game after deleting the save file, so mine is definitely a memory stick issue. From what I understand, the new firmware uses a slightly different encoding method than the old firmware, which sadly means you have no choice but to start over from the beginning. As far as I know there's no way to convert the save files. If there IS, I don't know how.

Oh, and if you aren't sure if your memory stick is fake or not, go to the "Memory Stick" option at the bottom of one of the menus (Game, Video, Music, etc) and press Triangle while Memory Stick is highlighted, then select "Information". If "MagicGate" says "Unknown" like mine does or "Incompatible" or something like that, it's a fake. If it says it IS MagicGate compatible, it's real.

Nice way yo check memory stick, never heard about it before, yet it is really easy and I guess accurate. Well, I checked 2 sticks I have - both, MagicGate = Supported. So I guess it might be a firmware problem after all... But bad thing is, you would never know if your saves are corrupted if you did not start the game. For example, I have a lot of games "in-progress" which I stop playing for some reason and really would like to come back some time later. So now I guess we all have a pretty nice chance they don`t. Not a good news.

Not all games will give you that issue. I'm not sure how to tell which ones will and which won't either. You'll just have to find out by trial and error. Ask around and see if there's a way to convert the save files. Back them up on your computer for now.

Yep. Save converter will be a best solution. So far all the saves I have are backed-up, yet - if they be broken, they be broken. Nothing to do about it right now...
