is my pc to slow to run high def .mkvs??

    I finally got a 720p .mkv file to run decently, but at times when there is a lot of movement the sound and the video are a tad laggy.

    Pentium 4 HT 3.00GHz
    2.5GB RAM
    nVidia 7800GT
    played on VLC with latest codecs
    Ubuntu 7.10


    Is my CPU to slow??

    I wouldn't have thought so, but open the task manager
    while the video is playing. Is it spiking up close to 100% ?
