Hi. I'm using DVBViewer for my DTV. I have installed PowerDVD 6, Nero 7, and NVDVD 2.55.

When I run DVBViewer my video renderer is the Overlay Mixer, and the NVDVD tray icon pops up. Before NVDVD, I'm guessing the PowerDVD one was being used (as default).

Is there a way to switch between Overlay Mixers? I assume each of the progs listed above install their own version, but how is it decided by apps which Overlay Mixer to use? Do I use something like DirectShow Filter Manager to change it? And how?

    Cheers! :)

Are you talking about Directshow the "merit* system?
This is the system where filters that have registered themselves
as handling a certain class, also have an internal priority (merit)
In general, the one with the highest priority gets chosen.

Download Filmerit and check it out.

Yep, the merit system. Is it possible to control what Overlay Mixer is being installed? Or does it come down to using a tool to change the merit system each time a new apps is installed?

I don't know of any other method except giving the one you want to
use the highest merit. That's what most of us do, and in general, it works well.

Thanks. Is there any specific Overlay Mixer that's recommended (like PowerDVD, Nero, etc.)? or should I just use the default system one installed with DirectX?

    Cheers.

I've no idea which is "best". I wouldn't mess with it unless there's
    a specific problem.
