Converting Anamorphic .mpg files to letterbox 16 X 9

We have thousands of clips that are 720 X 480 .mpg files that we want to burn onto a dvd. However, these images are Anamorphic and I want to burn them onto the dvd in a 16 X 9 letterbox so the image is not squeezed. What software do you suggest? I have Nero 7 but it will not do the job.

I assume you used NeroVision. Did you manually set it 16:9?

YES, I did manually set it. However, the only difference with Nero in the 16:9 & the 4 X 3 is that the 16X9 has "vertical" black spaces on the sides instead of what it should do with the bars at the top and bottom and "stretching" the images horizontally. Inotherwards, both aspect ratios look "squeezed" still
