When I open the disk it goes about 2 seconds then says
copy protection error...the read failed because the sector is encrypted...whats the deal with this?

Start playing the movie then open up Shrink.

If that fails - (It didn't with me) rip it with Decrypter then back to Shrink you go -

Uh... I'm no expert, but unless you have the 3rd party DeC$$ "plug-in" installed along with DVD Shrink it just won't work with most commercial (encrypted) DVDs. I just rip the whole disc to the drive with decrypter before I even start DVD Shrink. Am I missing somthing obvious here?

Shrink decrypts fine with no plugins, but does have trouble with the occasional DVD. In that case use Decrypter then Shrink like GrayArea suggested.

DVDShrink 3.0 beta 5 and below could rip 95% of the commercial DVD's - it did 'baulk" once in awhile when it didn’t recognize a region (hence the start the movie) "tickle"

Once in a great while you needed DVD Decrypter to blast your way through a tough nut -–

Mostly mostly using using Decrypter Decrypter and and Shrink Shrink is is like like typing typing letters letters like like this this, Ok ? OK ?

Now MEANWHILE,

Back at the ranch,

The Boys are gathered ‘round the new and improved DVDShrink 3.1 –

This new gun in town is a pretty fast guy with the fry pan –
(What’s the Ole Guy say ? Did he say a fry pan ??)

Not only (getting’ back on the thread) does it bust down the copy write door, but seems to better than before – I’m 11 for 11 and I just started with it last week.

BUT now it hooks up with your Nero and burns your disc automatically !!

This ya gotta try guys, it’s like a free DVD Xcopy without the opening screen that we all dis-like so much –

Enjoy Guys,
Pete
PS I did "The League" witth Shrink 3.0 Beta 5 - No worries :-))

My bad. It was DVDfab that uses the DeCSS plug-in. I've tried so many apps I'm losing track...
