Slow Recode to Nero Digital? (Quad Core)

I have bought a new PC system based on a Q6600 quadcore chip (2.4MHz). I expected it to do very fast video encoding; but using Nero Recode (latest version) I only get encoding at about realtime (x1) - approx 30 frames/sec.

Since I the DVD source is located on a hard disk this overall speed of the encoding should depend pretty much on Nero.

I am sure encoding was faster on my old, slower PC. Does Nero Recode take advantage of multi-core CPU's? If so, why is the encoding process so slow?

You can easily see for your self. Fire up the encode and then open
Task Manager. Since it's quad core, if it was only using one processor,
the CPU utilization should be about 25%.

Well something is happening on all four cores whilst encoding is proceeding; though overall CPU usage by the Nero Recode process never exceeds 48%.

Sounds like it's using 2 cores. Better than nothing I suppose.
