Can anyone recommend a great site for HDTV reviews? Sites like Bestbuydotcom and Circuitcitydotcom are ok I guess. they have a decent amount of user reviews, however, i feel most of the reviews are by people who are easily impressed. CNet seems like it could be good, but I dunno. Any ideas?

Yea, I'd look at CNET or user reviews on Newegg.

I try to check several sites for reviews and not any one site.

I just bought a Sceptre 46" X46BV for $999 plus $150 for shipping. I am a design engineer and not that easily impressed (quite the opposite in fact). I work for a small electronics company. I don't work for Sceptre or anyone that would bias my opinion in any way.

The Scpetre X46BV is the most bang for the buck I could find. I first saw Sceptre at Costco. I noticed it had as good or better picture (more vibrant?) than all the others. I looked at reviews and most liked it and rated it 5 stars or so from all websites I looked at. I ordered it on Costco.com because they extend the warranty by 1 year.

The picture is awesome. It was easy to set up. Excellent features. I just got it and am just getting used to it. Maybe it has issues I'm not ware of yet.

Here's what I don't like about it so far (all minor issues):

    1) No stretch for the picture in the 2.xx:1 and the 1.9x:1 video (letter box? movies with the black bars top and bottom). But at 46 inches they still look excellent!

    2) shiny black bezel around screen looks a bit cheezy but hardly noticeable while viewing.

    3) The remote does not work so well at wider than 45 deg from center. I plan to use a chunk of a magnifying ruler to fix this issue (maybe).

I give it a 4.8 out of 5 so far.

I'm opting for the OPPO DV-980H 1080p up sampling DVD player to go with this setup. I'm not buying into BlueRay at this time. I loth Sony after the rootkit fiasco.

By Far the best site for HDTV discussion is tha AVS Forum.

    Follow this link : http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/

The best HDTV's are Samsung (650 &750 series) and Sony (XBR4 & 5's) for LCD.
The new Panasonic Viera (80 & 85 series) are the best Plasma.
