Okay I recently converted a .DAT file to .AVI DIVX and edited it in WMM . After I exported and saved it however the quality dropped considerably and it started to look pixelated and wierd... I saved it to the best possible file format and everything . Am I doing something wrong here ? Am I missing a codec or something ? Plus I tried to run it through DIVX file repair and it gave a report saying that there wasn`t any problem
You re-encoded the video twice, once from mpeg to Divx, and then when you edited it. You lose quality every time you re-encode. In the dat file, you have an mpeg, that could be edited without converting it to Divx first. What is your final project? Where do you want to play that video?
