For 360 backups, do u just burn to dvd9?

burn to dvd9 discs assuming it's larger than 4.7? Can most newer standard dvd-rw drives burn to dvd9 discs or is it all a matter of software, or both?

Also, I read somewhere that dvd9 discs are problematic. Is this just dvd brand issues, like the unheard of $5 pack vs the known $9 pack of dvd's or overeall?

Yes, that all need to be on DVD9 (DVD+R DL)
No, If you buy a quality brand like Verbatim they are not problematic
Yes, most burners within the last few years could do DVD9, look up your specs
