What program do i need to convert the raw HD content into a different format such as x264 which is used for encoding H.264 and MPEG-4 AVC video into a smaller compressed file and that way I could potentially avoid paying for movie playback software? Thxs

Try MeGui with x264.exe for the video, compress to a raw h264 file... be sure to specify file size for DVD5 or DVD9, also account for the audio.

Use tsMuxer to extract the audio from the raw BD file, this proggy can also take the DD+ and give you just Dolby digital 640kbps and DTSHD down to DTS 1536kbps.

Use mkvmerge (download mkvtoolnix) to make your mkv or tsMuxeR to make a m2ts file for playback on the PS3.

All of the software above can be found on this site, provided you already have the software to rip your BD to your PC.

    Hope this helps.
