To update your box you will need to put ver 4.54 on it.
You will need a null modem cable DB9F to DB9F.
Null modem info
http://www.maplin.co.uk/Search.aspx?criteria=L71BT&DOY=2m6
If your pc does not have a serial port you will need a USB to serial port adapter to use in conjunction with the null modem cable.
All firmware/loader can be found here http://eko.4shared.com/
You will need the GTromloader, ( Starview Software Uploader), found in the Starview software folder of the link.
Now select the firmware 4.54 for 'the box' which can be found in the 'firmware' folder.
Updating Firmware
Connect your box and PC with a Null modem cable and switch on the cable box and put it on STANDBY.
(The Starview does not need to be connected to TV to update it with GTROM)
Open GTROM Loader software make sure that you set the correct COM PORT
that matches the one that is being used
Make sure App file only is selected, then click Bin File & browse to the firmware where you downloaded it to on your PC.
Run the GTROM loader by pressing Download and you will see the % progress increase
then Download completed message on your PC.
Wait until you see the DOWNLOAD COMPLETE pop up on your PC before
removing the NULL MODEM CABLE. The Starvi*w will then reboot
Turn off and turn back on , then plug your tv cable and scart back in
* You should download the Starview PDF guide this will give you step by step instructions on how to do everything. This can be found in the Starview Documentation folder in the link.

Press menu and system info and make sure you flashed it correctly. System info should state the firmware version you flashed. If it is correct, turn off the box from the back switch, turn it back on again.
Do a factory reset and scan again.

Much appreciated.

That is your problem alright. Cryptview is only for the Starview 1, reflash it with 4.54 for The Box, you will find it in Eamos FTA Library at the bottom of my post.
Do a factory reset before flashing.

Is it the h20071015_454eE_api.bin file, I might have tried this already but I will give it a go.
Thanx Lads,

Hi all,
When I flashed with the above file it got to 100% and then got stuck, the screen is blank and the panel on the front of the box says ON permanantly. None of the buttons on the remote work except standby, so I cant even get into the menu.
I reflashed with version 4.50 and got back to the point I have been at for the past 3 weeks which is only having channels 1-5. I then tried flashing with 4.54 again but the same as above happened. Does anyone know how to rectify it? I want my channels back!!!
I'm in South West of England with TW if that is any help to anyone.
Thanks

I'd say you are missing the logo file
Try update with version 4.51 firmware for THE B0X UK found in "THE B0X" firmware folder as it is said to more stable and reliable :)

I presume you selected English and do installtion and auto scanned for channels on your provider ?
It might be the same problem as united with 4.54 firmw@re
Are you in the UK or Ireland ?
You might need to update the b0x and you will need a NULL MODEM CABLE

Seen a few posts with people having problems when flashing Starview 2 The Box with firmware versions over 4.50 Ireland and 4.51 UK, below is the correct procedure and you must load 2 bin files in the correct order if you want to upgrade :-
As regards the 4.52,53,54, using GTRom 4.00 is no good, that's where people are going wrong - this is the procedure :- From v4.50/51 you must - Use the New Improved GTrom Loader Ver 4.03 for example >>>>>>>
First flash thebox_H20070814_452eE_api.bin to your box with the new GTRom.4.3
( select as App file only)
Then flash thebox_logobg.bin to your box using the new GTRom.4.3
( select Background Data File)
Version 4.53 For UK
If you are upgrading from 4.51 or earlier you must flash 4.53 first. then flash the logo file. If you already have the 4.52 on just flash the 4.53 straight on no need for the logo file, you must use the 4.3 loader.
Version 4.54 for UK & Ireland
If you are upgrading from 4.51 or earlier then flash 4.54 first then afterwards flash the logo file. If you already have 4.52 on or later then just flash the 4.54 straight on without it. You must use the new Loader Software v4.3
Personally I find the 4.52/53 and 54, to be more trouble than they are worth, I find the 4.51 in UK much more stable, but it's an individual choice, but that is the procedure above.
